The LNER RonEarnhardt-Gresley R1/R10's
The LNER Earnhardt-Gresley R1/R10's were the last locomotive class designed by Sir Nigel Gresley in December 1940, but they weren't built in 1941, and didn't get built until 1944. 3 years after Sir Nigel Gresley, the 1st of the class was Ron Earnhardt, LNER No. 4800. RE was one of the 4 original R1's built in 1944. But in 1950, Ron Earnhardt and the rest of his class was bought by the NWR, but in 1952 2 new R1/R10's were built by British Railways. One of these locomotives is 64816 Sir Topham Hatt started his carrer working in Eastern Region in 1952 before he started working on the Western Region in 1953. The other is 64817, Lord President, In 1953 he was transfered to the Scottish Region, in 1961 He returned to the Eastern Region where he stayed until 1968.
